Party Affiliation in New York State
The application contains a section where you can indicate your choice for party affiliation. If you would like to register without designating a party, simply mark the space indicating "I do not wish to enroll in a party."
| ||
| ||
| ||
In a Primary Election, only voters registered with one of the parties qualified to hold a primary in New York City may vote to nominate their party's candidate to run in the general election.
| ||
Because a primary is strictly a party election, only voters registered with one of the parties conducting a primary may participate in that party's election. Voters registered without party affiliation may vote only in General and Special Elections.
| ||
You can change your party affiliation by obtaining a Voter Registration Form, indicating the change and sending it to the Board of Elections. We will process the information and send you a new voter card reflecting the change in party. You cannot CHANGE your enrollment and vote in the NEW PARTY of your choice in the same year. Please Note: a change of enrollment will go into affect one week following the General Election. The last day to change your enrollment is the same as the last day to register for the General Election (25 days prior to the date of the General Election).
What the Law Says | ||
Your residence address determines the particular contests in which you are eligible to vote. Because of the role that one's address plays in the electoral system, New York State law requires voters to notify the Board of Elections within 25 days of an address change to preserve their voting rights.
| ||
You must notify the Board of Elections, in writing, to make any change to your registration (change of address or name). You may send us the change on a Registration application.

YOUR VOTE CAN CHANGE AMERICA.....

NATIONAL ELECTION
NOV 4th, 2008
Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller, and State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald
"We believe that Senator Obama has the vision to meet the challenges America faces, and that his message of hope and unity will lead us to a new kind of politics where we are not defined by our divisions but united by our love of country."
State legislators endorse Obama
The Des Moines Register | September 15, 2007
By The Des Moines Register Staff
Democrat Barack Obama scored four more state legislator endorsements, his presidential campaign announced Friday.
State Sens. Rich Olive of Story City and Frank Wood of Eldridge and Reps. Helen Miller of Fort Dodge and Janet Petersen of Des Moines bring the total to 10 state lawmakers who have endorsed Obama. Attorney General Tom Miller and Treasurer Mike Fitzgerald also have endorsed Obama.
Hodes Endorses Obama
Union Leader | July 26, 2007
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama today named New Hampshire U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes as one of his national campaign co-chairs, as Hodes endorsed Obama in the presidential primary.
The first-term congressman made the announcement during a rally this morning in downtown Concord, with Obama at his side. He said Obama is the catalyst to complete what voters started last year when Democrats took control of Congress.
The endorsement is a major coup for the campaign, who has seen other top-tier Democrats endorse rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and former Sen. John Edwards. Hodes is the first member of the state's four-member congressional delegation to register an official endorsement in the primary races.
Sen. Steve Warnstadt, D-Sioux City
Warnstadt also thinks Obama is making a strong move for change in his refusal to accept political action committee donations. "I like the way he has limited campaign financing to non-PACs. He has decided to reach out aggressively to ordinary individuals," he said.
Warnstadt's role with the Obama campaign is yet to be defined, but he said he is "impressed with how the campaign is turning to individuals. This is not a top-down campaign."
Has endorsed Barack Obama for President. We as a club have avoided taking sides in primary contests in years past. We have a compelling reason to break that tradition, and that reason is the hope and electricity of the campaign of Barack Obama for President of the United States of America.

George Clooney
"He possesses the one quality that you cannot teach and you can't learn. … He is a leader. He walks into a room and you want to follow him somewhere, anywhere. And … I've only seen that a couple of times in my life."
“I think his sense of hope and optimism for this country and what is possible for the United States is the kind of thing that I would like to get behind."
Edward Norton
"It would be a privilege to support a guy like that," the actor said. "In my adult life there have been so few people in the political spectrum that I have really gotten excited about. I think he's got the goods."
Clearly meaning that "third act" would be a run for the White House, Smith added, "There's absolutely going to be a third act and I believe [Obama] is going to be the hero." Not a bad endorsement from a guy who has made quite a career of playing heroes of all kinds the past few years.
